About JRC Glove:

James Churchill sold his first deerskin work gloves out of Centralia, Washington in 1895. The men buying them worked with their hands. The gloves had to hold.

That standard has remained: JRC Glove still cuts and sews in Centralia, sorting every American whitetail hide by weight and color before a single cut is made. Stitching runs on lockstitch machines, which hold up when a thread breaks, not the chain-stitch machines that unravel from a single failure. Most gloves made today are chain-stitched, and shipped from overseas.

We proudly sell JRC deerskin gloves because of their commitment to quality and American craftsmanship.

Common Questions:

Are unlined deerskin work gloves good for summer and three-season use?
Yes. Unlined deerskin is the right choice when grip, feel, and dexterity matter more than insulation. The leather breathes naturally, so your hands don't overheat during active work. If you're working in cold weather, see our foam-lined, Thinsulate, and Sherpa options.

What is a keystone thumb on a work glove?
A keystone thumb adds an extra sewn-in piece of leather at the thumb joint, allowing the thumb to move independently from the palm. It reduces stress on the seam, extends the life of the glove at its highest-wear point, and gives you a fuller range of motion without pulling or binding — especially important during gripping, twisting, and tool work.

Will deerskin work gloves stiffen or shrink if they get wet?
No. Deerskin handles moisture better than most work glove leathers. It won't stiffen when wet and returns to its original softness as it dries — a significant advantage over cowhide, which can harden and lose shape after repeated exposure to water. If your gloves do get soaked, let them air dry away from direct heat.
